About Me
Hello! My name is Matt. I grew up in South Africa but I’ve been living and working in the USA since 2012. After graduating college in 2008, I have worked in several nonprofit contexts in a wide variety of roles, all of which have required high levels of emotional intelligence and general people skills, not to mention self-motivation and organization.
My amazing wife recently started a job in the publishing industry and we relocated to the Chicagoland area this summer. It is my privilege to support her in this career move, but the result is that I am looking for a new vocational opportunity. This, however, does not tell the whole story. After 13 years working for nonprofit organizations, I decided to use this transition to actively pursue a career change. I am excited to harness the skills I’ve learned in nonprofit operations in a new context that will hopefully provide even more opportunities for growth and personal development.

Developed budgeting and financial systems. Oversaw the accrual of 3 months operating margin in 3 years. Oversaw the purchase, renovation, and occupation of additional property. Recruited and develop 40+ volunteers. Created and managed support and operations systems for ministry staff.

Next Level Church
July 2012 to June 2017
Started as a Student Pastor, leading 40+ volunteers and 80+ students. Took on the role of leading all ministries from birth-High School. Hired and led children’s ministry staff. Took over executive operational systems in the middle of financial crisis and helped turn the financial situation around through careful budgeting and establishing robust financial systems (increased margin from $10k to $120k in less than a year).
